Jeff Little
ISU 1987-1989
It always felt like it was a privilege to be gaining knowledge from this man who had done so much with his art. He brought out the best of people. I went to ISU because I saw a show of Harold's and of course, my love for the land and painting landscapes drew me to his work. I decided I wanted to study with the man who created these big beautiful pieces. Studying with him did, in fact, made me grow exponentially as a painter. Of course, what I realized later was, his biggest influence was teaching us how to survive. How to get slides done, approach galleries, minor framing, on and on. Skills I still use today. I've had a studio for 21 years right around the corner of Harold's studio and also from Harold and Marlene's downtown home. Every time I was downtown in my studio you would see Harold walking to and then back at the end of a day of painting. He lived it and taught what it takes to be an artist ... The secret is create art all the time !!!
