So much of what I know as a painter comes from having studied with Harold. He was truly a master. His breadth of knowledge was astounding. As a student, I loved his art history lectures; he knew and presented the material as if he had witnessed the events firsthand - some of it, actually, he had. His color theory course was uniquely his, and his brilliant writing often shared in course handouts has been gold to me through the years. How fortunate I was to have met him as well as his wife, Marlene - two of the kindest, most generous people I’ve had the privilege to meet.
